A dolphin a tree a promise and the perception

How does one go on with life after being a hero? People search for reasons to live their lives meaningfuly. When they finally do something that has made a difference or made someone breathe a little easier can they say that they have made enough of a difference in the emptiness of the void that we inhabit? I think that I have had my share of being a hero, the emptiness is filled for a while but after your ordeal it returns. And much like the withdrawal symptoms that a druggy gets when she has not had her fix, the defunct hero looks for another way to fill that gap. Always looking for the horrors or ordeals that others go through to make herself feel better. That is no way to live.
